A poem for Advent 2C:
o come, o come, o glorious birth
where star illumes sky
and trumpets blare
and choirs upon Holy choirs
announce He’s here
“God is with us”, the chorus
His song is life and life is love
and you are called to sing it!
sing of Mary,
balanced on a burro
new life cupped in her womb
burdened by gravity
the Lord, descending
God is near—
sing of John,
shouting from the Jordan:
“The time has come to rethink everything.”
for families are in need
thirsty for a Savior—
sing.
sing water into wells
sing of love until it lets down like mother’s milk
and mile to mile joy is seen
springing off faces of children
parading over this world, revived!
Sing, until that glorious day of suddenly’s!
where flame ignites sky
and trumpets blare
and choirs upon Holy choirs
announce He’s here
because...
although our arms are warmed for an infant
they long for the Man who won this world...
whose song is life
and life is love
and you are called to sing it.
